Can someone port virtualdub for Linux. Video encoding seems to be the only weak link with Linux. I would suggest that someone contact Avery Lee, the programmer for virtualdub. Maybe he would do it!!! Many Thanx, pch

Have you ever tried to run it using wine? You might want to give it a try.

I have used Virtualdub with Wine, however a lot of the features(plugins) do not work because they rely on non free codecs(like DIVX). I really want to get away from Windows and Wine. I was hoping there was a good Linux video encoder to encode to Theora that was not terminal oriented like ffmpeg. I have used WinFF, but it is very limited. Thankx for the advice. I'll keep looking. Many thanx, pch.

I want an all purpose encoder/editor that can convert flash, mpg, wmv etc. to xvid, divx, theora etc back and forth as well as do simple joining, splitting and editing of various file types. I have a windows box using Movica for editing and joining, Super and WMconverter for general pupose encoding and Virtualdub for more refined video editing(e.g logo removal resize etc.). I don't want more than 3 or four tools to do this. Cinelerra is more for professional use and I'm not even close to that. many thankx, pch

I have found this http://biggmatt.com/winff/ so far. Some of it works and some of it does not. I don't understand ffmpeg yet. I'm sure that someone who does could have this software singing in no time. lol,pch
