For my visuall effects it only works on normal mode. When I check the "extra" I dont get any effects and I lose the minimize and close buttons on the top right hand corner of the windows. Should I have used ENVY? or Hardware restriced drivers? ENVY doesnt seem to work for me. Does anyone else have this card?

An advanced search for your card here indicates your card is supported. Your drivers should have been easily installed using Envy.

You can also do this...if you're running the restricted driver, open 'Hardware Drivers', disable the driver, reboot, install using EnvyNG again, reboot, open 'Terminal', run
Code: Select all
sudo envyng -g
, select the settings you want, save config (by running EnvyNG under sudo, it will allow your setup to be saved to your xorg.conf file)...hope this helps :D 8-)

You're quite welcome...don't know why they didn't have it to where it would save to the xorg.conf file without having to run it under root access...gets aggravating saving your settings and getting that "can't save..." response....but you're right...Envy makes it a whole lot easier than manual install ;) :D 8-)

strider5236 wrote:So I went out last night and got a 42" plasma. :D I want to be able to set it up as my monitor, but when I plugged it in I only got 1068x940 or something like that. The plasma can handle 1920 x 1080. I tried reinstalling my video driver but no go. Still crappy reception. Has anyone els successfully got there plasma working as a monitor? I am using a Nvidia 8600gt card or will be trying a Nvidia 9600gt that will come in today. I am connecting it using a S-Video cable, the plasma does not have a vga plug in. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. ;)

Howdy strider, if I read the specs right on the nVidia site, you're S-vid output is limited lower than the DVI output on the 8600...the 9600 may be higher...might look up the specs for those cards...

When I got my 65" DLP earlier this year, I took my tower into the bedroom and hooked it up to the DVI input on the TV and it was great having a 65" monitor. I was a little fuzzy up close, but it was 1920 X 1080 on a DLP. :) Had to take the tower back to the office though.

Ge Force 6800 GT

Just installed 2.4 64bit and installed the driver that the system recommended via "System/Administration/Hardware Drivers" which was the 185 driver in this case and works a treat no problems.
