Installed the ZD1211 driver with synaptic,
opened Network manager and chose the SSID for my wireless network,
Set it to DHCP
rebooted
Works like a charm.

Got a TP-Link TL-WN725N wireless micro usb adapter that I picked up at Frys for 9 bucks. Took some searching but I found the driver that got it working. No hiccups or drops so far. If anyone is having issues getting this adapter to work go to this link https://github.com/lwfinger/rtl8188eu download the zip from the sidebar unzip go to the directory you unzipped the file in then type in the console "make" then "make install" and you should be good to go.

Hi,

This section has not been updated for a while. I am wondering if anyone could suggest a PCIe wireless card that will run out of the box on linux? Or a USB I guess.

Thanks.

P.S I have been looking on the Ubuntu hardware site but again it is some what dated.

The TPlink WDN4800 is a very good card with support for all OS.

Rosewill too makes good cards... These cards will work at n450 MBps speeds.

I am not aware of any popular wifi ac pcie cards not to forget the market doesnt exist.
On the other hand there are excellent usb 3.0 wifi ac adapters.... linux support is unsure or WIP for them.....
Realtek, Broadcom and Qualcomm make most radios and to my knowledge are all hostile to GPL..... which means, any new radios can take years to get support.
