Some how I've managed to screw up my HD.
GParted.png

/dev/sda17 - witch was made for storage is totally locked :!: I can't unmount it, can't write to it, can't delete it and not format it. :( Can't even make i work from a live-DVD.
Anybody who knows of a tool to repair this with out deleting or harm any other partitions on the HD :?: or else I have just to pretend it's only a 700GB disk ;)

Than you staca, but unfortunately it didn't give me anything I could use - but it was a good suggestion <BREW>

Don't know if any will help, but here's a list of free partition manager software...

Probably not the cause but could windows have performed an unclean shutdown locking the drive? Can you access the 53Gb through windows? Try loading into windows and then closing down to see if it unlocks...?

Cheers.

The only thing that I know of that will lock a partition is windows,or the partition is mounted.Perhaps some how its using the one in question as a recovery partition?

There's something odd going on in this PC, but fist - it's a home-build, ordered home as parts picked by me, so I'm sure there's no back-up or recovery partition. The partition i quest has never been mounted in windows, so this time windows has no part of the issue. Strangely enough it seems to be Linux Mint, because after deleting both partitions with Mint the issue is gone. Even more strange - Mint 7 has been on the disk sines it's release. The loss ain't very big - it was mostly installed out of curiosity and it's over a month sines I've had it open last 8-)

After deleting those Mint partitions, I have got a new error  When closing my PC I ends up with a black screen saying that it's stopping different things and services. The last line says: "Stopping early crypto disks..." and a blinking courser at the end of the line. It stops there (only difference next morning is that the screen is on pause 8-) ) the system don't power off and the keyboard don't work either at that point.

Google don't give me anything - there's a lot hits with "starting early crypto disks" but no stopping.
Reinstalling those packages - who might be related - shown in synaptic when searching with "crypto" don't help either.
Anybody with any idea :?: Having to close with the power-button on the cabinet every day doesn't seem to a valid solution ;)

NB, There is no problem when i reboot.
