I've just called him, and he said: "yes, if it's not the first couple of days, I'll help you."

Hi
He's coming to help me tomorrow. Is there a preferred database-program we have to use or can we just those one ?
I have Kexi, Glom and OOo database installed, if one of them is useable :?:

I rely on a bit of help from you admins to what, where how to put it after we made it etc.

Thank you for your interest and dedication in this effort. also, another way to populate the data base, is to look at some of the users' signature fields. thats the part at the bottom of the message at the end of a user's posted comment. yeah I know some of ya'll have braggin rights. this will tell you waht current hardware they have running on their system.

:?: Are you suggesting that I have to go to the members-list and post all these data in the database too :?:

I was thinking about if the database could be maked so members could post specs by them self using drop-down menus and "type in self" , but I'm no expert :D My intents is to make something similar to that site I linked to in the top of the tread. (Time will show if I can manage to make something you can use ;) )

I am not suggesting that you alone do such laborious tasks by yourself over 6K users is a lot.

:?: Now, I'm confused, what do you mean ?
Have you read page 1 of this thread ? I was told that Ultimate Edition isn't Ubuntu and therefore could not use some established hardware list :?:

ahhh, yes, but it is based off of debian. So if it works from debian you are pretty much guaranteed to work on Ultimate. now the caveat of that would be the hardware probe that Ultimate uses, is based off of Ubuntu and debian. With that being said, Thee has scraped his knuckles a few times as have us mods and admins attempting to get a wide assortment of hardware issues resolved. case in point video drivers for video cards, some releases, video works flawlessly along with wireless and a few other things. while on others there's a minor glitch here and there. unfortunately some completely get ignored and won't work for a very long time and then violla it works out of the box.

so the database list is pretty much a tentative list that details hardware that should work with a few minor grievances and given the time between releases, monst issues should be resolved ( Theoretically speaing of course)
