The biggest advantage is speed card readers. Several times the speed of image transfer camera usb connection. Is helpful if you can shorten the time of image acquisition.

Card reader has a nice design in general, memory card slots are hidden inside to keep dust and dirt. When you press both buttons at both ends of the slots player pop up.

I think that the USB issue is PCI related,but I am not positive of that, since the USB option being off should not affect the bootability of the SATA drive but does.I'll check some LiveDVD brews I have got and post results.
