I'm having compiz issues as well, wobbly windows won't start, etc. Havn't installed prop. AMD graphics drivers, so that might be the issue, IDK though.

Most of the effects you have to use a command to activate them.. Example Wizard you hit super key ( which is the windows key) and W at the same time.
For water affects you would hit the Shift+F9 For wiper effect Shift+F8 but I can't seem to get that one working.. I also left checked the Automatic pluging in sort some say to uncheck it but I left my as is.. one picutre show pretty much which effects I have checked.. If it helps in one picture make sure these packages are installed..

I am having a problem with Compiz.
----------
Open CCMS, turn off wall and snap, turn on wobbly, move CCMS window - works fine.
Exit CCMS, wobbly still works
.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/config
Code: Select all
[general]
profile = unity
integration = true
.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/Default.ini
Code: Select all
[core]
s0_active_plugins = core;composite;opengl;decor;compiztoolbox;move;regex;firepaint;vpswitch;resize;mousepoll;gnomecompat;copytex;grid;imgpng;place;wobbly;animation;session;fade;workarounds;cube;rotate;scale;td;cubeaddon;expo;ezoom;

[grid]
s0_top_edge_action = 0
.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/unity.ini
Code: Select all
[core]
s0_active_plugins = core;composite;opengl;decor;compiztoolbox;move;regex;vpswitch;resize;mousepoll;gnomecompat;copytex;grid;imgpng;place;wobbly;animation;session;fade;workarounds;expo;scale;ezoom;

[grid]
s0_top_edge_action = 0

Open CCMS, move CCMS window - it no wobble.
.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/Default.ini (UNCHANGED)
.config/compiz-1/compizconfig/unity.ini
Code: Select all
[core]
s0_active_plugins = core;composite;opengl;decor;compiztoolbox;move;regex;vpswitch;resize;mousepoll;gnomecompat;copytex;grid;imgpng;place;snap;animation;wall;session;fade;workarounds;expo;scale;ezoom;

[grid]
s0_top_edge_action = 0
unity.ini was altered when CCMS was started, removing wobbly and re-inserting snap and wall.

The global configuration files (which seem to have no effect)
/etc/compizconfig/config
Code: Select all
[general]
backend = ini
plugin_list_autosort = true

[gnome_session]
backend = gsettings
integration = true
plugin_list_autosort = true
profile = Default

[general_ubuntu]
backend = gsettings
integration = true
plugin_list_autosort = true
profile = unity
/etc/compizconfig/unity.ini
Code: Select all
[core]
s0_active_plugins = core;composite;opengl;copytex;compiztoolbox;decor;vpswitch;snap;mousepoll;resize;place;move;wall;grid;regex;imgpng;session;gnomecompat;animation;fade;unitymtgrabhandles;workarounds;scale;expo;ezoom;unityshell

It isn't just wobbly, others such as cube, cubeaddon, fire, etc. suffer the same fate.

Any ideas?

Its Not CCMS, its ccsm.

Enable compiz and all your effects.
Reload compiz with:
Code: Select all
compiz --replace

Do the above by either pressing ALT+F2
or you can run it in a terminal.

Which window manager are you using ? Unity or mate...

Also please write your hardware specifications.

Thank you, Pam. I will address your response in the order you presented it.
Its Not CCMS, its ccsm.
Actually, that's a rather common misspelling (maybe we all have a touch of dyslexia) on the web. I may have been looking at one of the pages I researched when typing that. Mea culpa.
However, pursuant to item 1 of http://forumubuntusoftware.info/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=11
It might have been more respectful to ask "Did you mean ccsm rather than CCMS?" For example, in your profile, did you mean 'overclocking' rather than 'overcloking'?
Code: Select all
compiz --replace
Yeah, not a good thing, did not retain settings, and in addition, removed all window decoration (title bar, borders, etc.) from all windows (even newly opened) and other nasty effects I do not recall exactly.
Which window manager are you using? Unity or mate...
Don't know - whatever the default is in Ultimate Edition 3.8 x64, fresh install, 4 times. I cannot answer definitively, as I do not have access to that machine at the moment.
Also please write your hardware specifications.
I tested this on three different machines. Ran a program to check compiz hardware compatibility (can't remember the name . . . unity-check maybe) Since this involved a configuration file being unexpectedly altered, I discounted it being a hardware issue. Also, fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 (ugh) on the same machine worked properly, not producing the magically changing ini file.
Which of my 7 machines should I document?

UnixWolf, I'm sorry if I have offended you in anyway.

As far as CCMS goes, i thought at first it was a typo. But it wasn't. So i stressed the fact about ccsm. I hope you dont take this the wrong way. I'm well aware you know that....we are all forgetful. The correction is primarily directed toward the audience. You got the better of me...im only a young fool. Thank you for the advice. I'll ask respectfully before i direct a correction.

Now for your problem...
Ultimate Edition 3.8 uses mate 1.6
Mate has become independent and powerful. It has its own compositor(limited). Compiz is not formally compatible with mate 1.6. That is TheeMahn's own work. He is working explicitly on compiz to get it stable with mate. Since Ultimate Edition is built from the ground up he has managed to integrate it.

Nonetheless, you can try the things recommended here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/281876/h ... h-mate-1-6

Compiz also depends on opengl. Opengl works on your graphics hardware. The opensource drivers are not always promising. Since we dont know what hardware you use...you may need to install drivers for your respective hardware.

You did not spam or troll. That message is below the line and for the public.

I again apologize for any disrespect.
You have a good day Sir.
pam.

I started to play with some settings running CompizConfig Settings Manager, now when I open an App, example terminator, it does not give me an option to minimize, maximize, or exit on the top of the app, and the app goes to the top far left of the screen. So far all my apps I open up, goes to the far top left of the screen.

Any ideas, what happen?
