A good firewall tool or not?

Postby D1Knight » Sat Oct 30, 2010 7:03 pm

Hi there. :)

Is this http://code.google.com/p/ufw-frontends/ https://launchpad.net/~baudm/+archive/ppa a better tool, for a firewall?
Any useful thoughts or comments are appreciated. Have a good one. :)

personally I dont see why you would use a command line when there are gui firewalls available, and as for the other one, why would u use something that is not trusted?

What is wrong with Firestarter? Or even better, make your own.... here are some links to check it out...

and by the time you've finished reading , you'll be a guru at making firewalls... :D

Hey oceania68. :) Thanks for your response. The links I posted on this thread, are for the same firewall tool (homepage & Launchpad page), which is a gui. Now as far as Firestarter, the last time I checked this tool has been dead for some time-no development going on....soooo if a vulnerability appears, no support for a fix.

I mainly made this post, to see if anyone else has tried the ufw-frontend firewall (gui) tool. Since I am still noob-ish, I was hoping for some insight about this tool, as far as safe to use or not. The features of this gui look real simple to use.

Thanks for the links. :) I shall give them a look. I appreciate you. :D Have a good one.
