How is it possible to use Emerald themes in KDE since Kwin has its own window decorator integrated, or it is needed to switch to Compiz

Use Smaragd: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Sm ... ent=125162

Description:
Smaragd is a window decoration engine for the KDE window manager KWin. It allows you to use Emerald theme files (from Compiz/Beryl) with KDE SC 4.

Either use install instructions from above link or add a repository containing kwin-style smaragd for example: "ppa:netrunner-os/ppa" https://launchpad.net/~netrunner-os/+archive/ppa or download the .deb file from the same page by clicking on the "View package details" link at top of page and then click on kwin-style smaragd to reveal the available downloadable tar.gz and .deb files
Once smaragd is installed a .emerald folder will be in your home folder.
You don`t need to install emerald but you can if you wish to change themes regularly, otherwise just extract your chosen theme into the /.emerald/theme folder or use the default.
To apply Smaragd go to System Settings/Workspace Appearance/Window Decorations

I suppose I should explain this a little.

Ideally, sure...

You can install KDE and start setting up Compiz which will limit your system operations in KDE and cause multiple crashes a session, and that is wunderbar.

But what you need to do is learn how to use KDE. Not learn how to use Compiz.

There is no reason to switch to compiz, to do cube

viewtopic.php?f=125&t=9024

use kwin.

To change your Window Decoration go to

Systemsettings-->Workspace Apperance-->Window Decorations

If this is prior to 4.11 release and may change soon you can also add Dekorator

viewtopic.php?f=125&t=9273

which already contains an extremely large portion of the emerald themes in any case..

To get really funky with it install qtcurve...

The thing is, everyone gets on KDE trying to emulate Gnome and it ends in failure. Then they exclaim how much KDE sucks. Well it does suck, it sucks at being Gnome.
