Ultimate Music Player

Ultimate Music Player

Postby Tool » Fri May 17, 2013 5:58 am

I run Ultimate Edition 3.5 64 bit and have a great music player called Ultimate Music Player. Is this a Ultimate Edition only package, or can it be installed on other Ubuntu distros? I'm hooking up a friend of mine with a Linux distro. He is new to Linux and loves the player, but is uncomfortable with the Ultimate Edition setup, so I was trying to find it on the web, but no dice. Thanks. :D

So here is the source code

http://ultimateplayer.info/

I am pretty sure there is a 64 precise deb on OZ somewhere.....

Ultimate Edition 3.5 is not like other Ultimate Editions. It has been my observation that the average Ultimate user really does not know how to use KDE, they expect it to use the same outside interference programming required by gnome, which is a complete waste of time and not how KDE works. Compiz anyone?

If you used something less complicated like 3.4 lite, you of course will get the Ultimate Player which for me has strengths in being compatible with the Ultimate Editon conky. I have about an eight percent success rate with the source code..

Eventually, since there are no debs for 32 Precise, or Quantal, and of course Raring and Saucy, I had to give up on the Ultimate Player, and I have been a pretty big promoterhttp://forumubuntusoftware.info/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=8916&p=76027&hilit=ultimate+player#p76027

The answer is Clementine.

I see. Thanks. I think he's gonna go without it. LOL He either wants Zorin or Mint and I'm already donating hrs of my time to him setting it up.

Wouldn't it be easier to just install Windows ;)

The answer is still Clementine. Why ask the question if you do not hear the answer?

I wouldn't dare do that to a friend. LOL. He has XP, but he does not like it and it has become unstable. He's seen what Linux does and loves it. He's not very PC savvy, but he can run one ok for general use. He has a 1.8GHz Pentium single core with 1GB RAM. It's an older dell. He's running puppy precise as a backup, but he has since upgraded his RAM from 256MB. His system should be able to run most 32 bit distros. I tried getting him to go Ultimate Edition, but he won't have it. Says it's too much for him. LOL

You wouldn't want to run 3.5 on those specs. It is too much. It can run 3.4 Lite though.

It would only be way cooler if "someone" could make it current.

Nothing cool about not being able to install and run it.
