Ubuntu/KDE Saucy Developmental Rant

Re: (Discussion)How to install the latest KDE from backports

Postby Xanayoshi » Sun May 12, 2013 2:34 pm

So I just accidentally installed it..4.10.3 seems to be available but I am not positive it is in straight backports, since I switched to developer 13.10.

Really I am just trying to get my Mangaka up and running, so for sure I guess..13.10 and 4.10.3 work together.

So I am not seeing this upgrade in any 12.04 bases. I have no choice

I must install KDE on 13.04 and find out!

Mangaka is definitely on 4.10.3, it's the only environment that still works. Originally a 10.04 with Gnome 2.

Edit..time passes

Looks like 4.10.2 to me :?

Definitely 4.10.2

Well that..sucks.

I can't help but wonder if it is the developmental...and..I think I know it is..but..

Goodbye 13.04
I already have Saucy on my netbook..and I guess Mangaka..lame..whatever..

sudo do-release-upgrade -d

more time passes

Ahh..well..I did not know developmental did that with KDE. Just the above command brought it to 4.10.3. Gnome is at 3.6.3.1, and broke, freezes up when applications is opened, Unity and Mate are fine. Interesting, but not worth anything. I really had to know though. So no 4.10.3 in backports, least the ones you would want.

13.10 Unity/KDE developmental + Mate 1.6 with Compiz = AWESOME! Who cares if Gnome Classic and Gnome don't work? I care a little I guess, and I like using Gnome Classic 3.4 on Debian as it is super low resource but Gnome..Gnome 3 is just always...not a smashingly good time.

Since the entirety of my theming on this has been somewhat based on the Blue Deck Theme, I will forgive your absolutely horrible analogy.
