Transparent window border with graphic design inside

Postby Zaileion » Sat Apr 27, 2013 12:05 am

Upon original installation of Ultimate Edition, the transparent areas of the window had a really cool fractal like design inside. Kind of like a wallpaper for the transparent areas. Unfortunately I've somehow lost this feature. My assumption is its a setting in Compiz, but I've looked pretty throughly and could not locate any such setting, so either I'm wrong or am missing it. Does anyone know how to restore this feature?

I'm going to need just a little more information...

Which Version?

Which Environment?

And now, the completely true facts, as told by an anonymous man hiding behind a screen name:

no, i dont think it winodw deceration, thank you for the suggestion though. its like looking thorugh the transparent areas of the window border, and there is a bunch of lines inside. like a black and white fractal. tis the best i can explain. ill post a picture, i have it on a laptop, but i left it at work. so if no one knows right off the top ill post a picture monday eve.

oh i should also mention that when the window is moved around you can see more of the design, its like a background behind the windows.

no, there are no transparent borders around your windows. And it also shows through the glowing border that some themes have (if you have installed emerald).

Here i found this screenshot on google. if you look close you can see lines within the white glow around the window. and if you were to grab that window and move it around you you would notice there is much more to those lines, making an entire picture behind the glow.

1. If you are using Metacity themes (the default in Ubuntu), press Alt-F2 and run "gconf-editor". Use that to browse to apps/gwd, and you'll find options for adjusting the transparency of active & inactive windows, and for selecting between using the same opacity for the whole border or fading from opaque to the set transparency.

2. Install Emerald, and set Compiz to use it as the default decorator (change the command under Window Decoration-plugin's settings). Emerald themes are actually made to do transparency (unlike Metacity themes), so they will give you much nicer transparency effects and more control over it.

yep, ive got all that. its not the transparency, or Emerald. ive got all that under control. its the background within the transparent areas. if you look at the picture above you can see the transparent areas of the window and menu border have fancy lines within them, those lines are actually a black and white image that is supposed to show up through the transparent borders of the menus and windows. and i am looking to findout where i set that image.
