Video Maker

Postby piratemouse » Sun Mar 17, 2013 5:44 pm

Hello.
I am interesting in creating and editing a video. Just a silly little project I have for a friend of mine. I have run across Kdenlive for editing, but I really don't know what to use to actually make the video to start with.
I can use my phone to make videos, but that comes with its own stress and issues ( having to prop phone up, limit of phone memory, etc ) so would rather just make and edit everything off the computer.

Any suggestions for a decent video maker?

Also ... looking for someone that may be a little talented with Blender. With this little video project, I would love to make a nice animation as an title and end credit, but having opened Blender and looked at it, I am clueless on how to do even something simplistic.

Just as a helpful guide, this guy is where I got the idea to make my own videos ( and try and use Blender / Kdenlive ) to do it. ( http://www.youtube.com/user/LinuxSpatry )

Yes, Blender is pretty sophisticated. I would try clicking on the help, there is a forum and manual online. I am in the same boat not knowing how to use it yet. I plan to learn soon. For video have been told Pitivi video editor would be a good program to use. I also have that installed but once again have not used it, yet. There is a manual that comes with it. Claims is easy for new or experienced users. Sorry I do not have more information or could help you more. Am also a novice with many programs. Wish you the best on this and just hope this will get the ball rolling as I know we have users out there that do this stuff!!!

Thank you.

I downloaded it and installed it and looks close to Kdenlive - where I can edit a video, but not record one. But may be something to keep around and tinker with at a later time.

There are videos I've found on Youtube for tutorials, but are a bit hard to follow ( for me anyway ) but if I am stuck with just making videos with my phone, then that's okay. It works either way to me. Just would of liked to use my desktop and webcam to make the video.

On a whim, I pulled up Cheese Webcam Booth and seem to have a video recorder there. I haven't tested to see if it works for audio and video, but will give it a go.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I will keep tinkering around and if I learn anything, I'll certainly come back. :)

Openshot

OR Avidemux Or LiVES or Kino or Cinelerra

Openshot is best and easiest to use...and cinelerra is much advanced.

Thank you. I am trying OpenShot and KdenLive ( tinkering with both ) and they are great for video editing, but what would you recommend to actually make the video?
I have a cell phone but to hang it somewhere or hold it seems counter-productive when I have a webcam and computer all available. I tried Cheese, but the audio & video seems to be off on it. ( Sluggish at best )

So would like to find something to record the video then use OpenShot or whatever to edit said videos.
