I am not a genius with a computer by any means but, with all the talent there is on this forum using Ultimate Edition of all different flavours - why can't we (you guys) - make our own desktop environment and forget trying to use Gnome or KDE.

Personally I like using Gnome but, only because it is the one environment that has remained stable out of the two. Every time I have tried to use KDE the system eventually hangs in some way. I can only think it is something to do with my Radeon crad but, I am not completely convinced of this because I remember trying KDE around 10 years or more ago and it was buggy then.

So how's about it? Would it be very difficult? Surely all the base ingredients are already in place and things just need to be tailored in a way that the majority would like, Mmmm... wait a minute, that's exactly what I do with AWN, etc.

Oh, forget it... probably a bad idea and too much work for anyone to be bothered.

If anyone could create a brand-new DE,(if I`m getting what you`re saying right), it could only be Thee Mann and the geniuses here.

To be honest thats a great idea ,the current way things go Thee takes for instance gnome 3 tries to squash the bugs that get released with it and then repackages it tweaked and updated. So it is a remix of gnome 3 not a new fork of it but a remastered version thats stable and better. I am sure Thee could give you a more Detailed and techie reply but i hope this helps as simple of a reply as it is.

Don't use the word Remastered.... lol. Do not take pun, but he is the only man that walks the planet with repomaster. Well besides myself. That is thee amount of trust I instill in the individual. Can it make your Environment? No, but I bet no matter the environment make it better. It is coming soon to a repo near you.

I apologize I have not been forthcoming with this product. I have so many "Jobs" I can not dedicate the time to make it a reality for the end user. He BTW has taken one of my jobs. You go BOY!!! He is wet behind the ears now, and has far superseded my expectations. He does not even know it, but he is famous now.

Is the ISO file data correct?

Postby LordDan » Sat Aug 13, 2011 10:16 pm

Greetings.
I downloaded Ultimate Edition 3.0 Gamers and the md5sum checking was correct. However, the iso file size is about 3.8 GB (Ultimate Edition site says it is 4.2 GB).
Are these information correct (md5sum and file size) ?
Great work! Thank you.
