Ultimate Edition cursor theme not working correctly (Fixed)

Help & support for Ultimate Edition 1.8

Ultimate Edition cursor theme not working correctly (Fixed)

Postby csc2ya » Sun Feb 21, 2010 6:43 pm

I've been having problems with the ultimate edition cursor set for a while (the one that rotates).

It usually works fine, but when the pointer is on certain applications (amarok for example), I will get a black and white pointer rather than the ultimate edition one.

To show what I mean, i've uploaded an image of what it's like when I hover the cursor over amarok's window: http://csc2ya.co.uk/screenshots/cursor.jpg

I believe this started happening when I had to reinstall bootsplash, and that insisted on removing gnome-desktop.

However, even after reinstalling gnome desktop, I cannot get the original cursor theme to work properly again.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Edit: Fixed it

This is a on going issue with Lucid 10.04 so everyone that installed 2.7 has the same problem.

It's so ugly ain't it. :x

Have you tried the fixes on page 5 of this thread ?
Cursor issue [NOW it's Solved Yaaaay!!]
There's one there for x86 and one for x64. There's also other fixes there if for some reason it doesn't work but I don't recall it not working for anyone.
32 bit cursor fix for 2.6

64 bit cursor fix for 2.6
;)
And Jeahavee, I have 2.7 x86 installed and running with no cursor issue right from the start, it was in 2.6 that the cursor had to be fixed. And the fixes in the thread above I linked to the downloads that fixed it in 2.6.

Well I installed 2.7 and the cursor for it is GOLD. Yet the real problem hasn't been fixed. I still can't take my install custom cursor and apply it. At least the one problem is fixed. ;) Hopefully 10.10 well clean that up. That is the only thing keeping 10.04 from being the perfect OS  (for me anyway).

Hello Jeahavee .

well on 2.7 the issue with the GOLD cursor was solved !

It's a Gnome issue because on KDE I change the cursor.
