minimize and quit buttons [SOLVED]

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 2.5

minimize and quit buttons [SOLVED]

Postby billy20 » Wed Dec 09, 2009 8:38 am

hi all

my minimize and quit buttons have disappeared on open programs. I've ran into this before but can't remember how i fixed it. i'm running compiz. thats when the problem started. worked fine in ultimate 2.1, 2.3.
I got to say 2.5 is excellent. first time i've never had to screw with the sound or harddrive. worked right out of the box.

thanks

Bill

Been a long time since I messed with compiz, and don't have my Ultimate Edition machine running, but...I think it's a section in compiz labeled window decorator...some where toward the bottom of the settings in ccsm???

I had this issue as well ! Cant figure out what happens but if you open applications>system tools and click compiz fuzion icon , Then click the icon that appears in your task bar it will open another icon on the right side of your task bar, Then right click that select window manager "compiz" Then 'select window deorator" " GTK" Then "reload window manager" some times that works ! I have had this happen on several installs ( I have loaded 2.5 about 7 times because of different issues, And trying to find the culprit ) Are you using xsplash or have you installed GDM 2.20 ? Are you running an ATI graphics card? Did this happen after you updated to the 16 kernal, or just after updating?, I would open my ccsm, And window decorator was marked and any changes to it made no difference, I switched to Emerald and that worked, but I like GTK and I didn't have the time to download additional emerald themes to get the look I wanted ! As I am working on some GTK 2 Themes :D GTK needs to work !!! :ugeek:

I think I have found the solution to loosing GTK window decorator, I had this happen after installing "ecomorph e17" goto synaptic and reinstall " libdecoration " , Open ccsm make sure window decorations is checked, Applications>system tools>compiz fuzion icon, set compiz as window manager,GTK as window decorator, and reload window manager, you should now have window decorations back! :ugeek:
