Adjust the settings here and see what you get:
If you have no joy that way type sudo modprobe snd-your sound card #)
If that doesn't work see if you can find a linux driver for it somewhere.
Another option is to try another kernel that has the correct module for your sound.
You need the motherboard specs to get the correct audio info(try the manufacturer's website). It will look something like this AL883 or CS4236 for the audio chip.
