Ultimate Edition 3.2 blocking access to software sources

Hi All-

I used Ultimate Edition v3.2 64 bit for about a year, then decided to go to the new v3.4. Sorry, but it sucked from the get-go. Nothing but crash reports and sluggishness from the start. Decided to replace a hard drive and go back to a fresh install of v 3.2. Went well, but neither Synaptic nor Software Update will connect to repos. Keep getting an error that pkg is not authenticated. All I want is GPARTED!!! - but no pkg will download. Even tried 'sudo apt-get install gparted' but no joy. Anyone seen this before? Is there some default setting in Ultimate Edition that causes this? I don't seem to recall this kind of issue when I originally installed v3.2. Thanks in advance for your help.

You can always download the deb from http://pkgs.org/download/gparted. keep in mind that you may have dependencies, but I'm sure we can work through them without any trouble. Can you please post the repo issues your having? may be the results of an apt-get update and a pic of the source list in synaptic like below, or /etc/apt/sources.list. Also place a signature with your hardware and software info like mine below. It will help to provide better support. Thanks...

I'll work on the sig, but not sure about how to post a shot of the error messages.

Please try this in terminal
Code: Select all
$ sudo apt-key update
then
Code: Select all
$ sudo apt-get update

If this doesn't work we can target the ppa's next...

Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at archive.getdeb.net.

Above is the response when I tried to download from the pkg site. Uploading screenshots always gives an 'invalid filename' error.

Also, can't perform updates. Says 'cannot install package'. Nothing should be this difficult!

Tried 'apt-key update'. Says 'two keys not changed'.

OK, I'm back at it again. I gave up momentarily on v3.2 and went back to 3.01. Of course, same issues with updates and package downloads. I tried all of the suggestions offered - to no avail. I have attached several screenshots to help illustrate what I have done. Also, in 3.01, Ubuntu Software Center will not open. I double click the icon, get the rotating blue globe indicating it is opening - yet nothing. Another bug??????? Oh and one more thing: I tried to upgrade the kernel to oneiric but it totally trashed the system (using the upgrade button in tweak). Any thoughts there?

Is it possible that the OS is simply broken and I should try a new intallation? Thanks.

And......Happy New Year!
