Help & support for Ultimate Edition 3.2

Upgrade/Update

Postby ronbrijo » Sun Jul 01, 2012 1:24 am

HI,

I have been an Ubuntu user for sometime and have just installed 3.2, and the upgrade/update manager has requested I upgrade my installation.

Question:

1. What will happen if I upgrade?
2. should i rather just update?

What will the implications be of either scenario?

Thank you

Hi ronbrijo, and welcome to the forum.

Firstly, can you please place your system specs in your sig. This will enable others to more quickly help with any questions you may have.

As to upgrade/update, we recommend updates, but not upgrade.

As Ultimate Edition has been customised up the wazoo, any distro upgrade WILL break your installation.

Best to wait until another version is released, and then do a full install, remembering to backup your home folder beforehand.

Cheers
