OK, let me start by saying that I have the exact same problem with Ubuntu 11 64 bit, and LinuxMint 12 64 bit. Why I have no idea. The Ultimate Edition 3.2 dvd boots fine on my laptop and installs without any problems. DVD has been checked and is good. I have also tried booting from a USB stick using unetbootin, and same exact error appears. This rig is running Ultimate Edition 2.9, Win7 64,LinuxMint 11 64 , and Netrunner 4.1 without any problems all in grub.

Now the DVD boots fine, the selection appears and asks language, English i choose, Then I choose try ubuntu without installing, first option. Then after loading some stuf really fast on the screen the error appears

Here is the error exactly as it appears on the screen:

BusyBox v1.18.4 (Ubuntu 1:1.18.4-2ubuntu2) built-in shell (ash)
Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands

(initramfs) mount: mounting /dev/loop0 on //filesystem.squashfs failed: invalid argument
Can not mount /dev/loop0 (/cdrom/casper/filesystem.squashfs) on //filesystem.squashfs

Here is my hardware-

Asus PQ5 Pro
Intel E8400 3.0 ghz core2duo
6 GB DDR2 ram 1033 mhz
SATA dvd drive
SATA HDD (3)
Nvidia GTX 260-856 Ram Pci-E 16x
USB keyboard saitek cyborg
USB mouse logitec
Network- D-link DWA-130

As I said 2.9 works just fine on this comp. The 32 bit and 64 bit versions of Ultimate Edition 3.2 DO NOT WORK. LinuxMint 12 DOES NOT WORK either.
Does anyone know what the cause could be ? I have tried disabling USB, internal network card, on-board audio, etc.
Thanks for any help.

Now i have tried disabling USB legacy support, changing sata to ide, because im using ahci. different boot paramaters, recovery, etc.... I cannot for the life of me get this to boot on this computer. Every single Linux prior to this has had absolutely no problem, I beleive it is an ubuntu issue that has not been addressed dealing with specific hardware or code. ANY HELP would be great, i will get the word out if we can solve this problem.

Here are my specs- (Asus P5Q-pro), (6gb ddr2 1033mhz), (Nvidia gtx 260 896mb ram), (various SATA HDD's), ( DVD burner combo drive), No overclocking or unusual setting in bios, ahci on, usb fully enabled.

Things I tried-
I have disabled The USB controller and no luck.
I have downloaded 32 bit Linux Mint KDE and no luck(same error)
I have tried nomodeset and no luck
I have unplugged the IDE dvd drive and tried the USB boot and no luck
I tried all of these thing in various configurations without any change in the error

Hello Linuxnut69

I would try setting everything back to where you had it and undo sli till you get it up and running. if iam not mistaken you have to edit a config file to get sli working once installed. but iam sure someone here can help you with that. I tried installing to sli before and would not, didnt know which card to use. never tried again.

The live dvd will not even boot. I get this error when trying to boot up, not even to the install screen yet.

I don't see any mention that you have tried disconnecting all but your main HDD.
Leave your DVD connected, Main HDD (where you are installing to) and physically disconnect the others.

See if that makes a difference. :D

I have disconnected every thing except the DVD drive and no luck. I have Ultimate Edition 2.9 installed, win 7 64,bodhi, netrunner 4.1 and puppy linux 5.25 & 5.28 on this machine multibooting. Whenever I try Ubuntu 11 or higher, Mint 11 or higher, or Ultimate Edition 3 or higher all of them refuse to boot from the DVD or USB (see error on my initial posting). I am not trying to add to my boot config, I just want to make sure I can upgrade to Ultimate Edition 3.2 when I am ready. I have the newest kernel on my Bodhi install, so my guess it that there is something in the Ubuntu kernel headers that my computer does not agree with.

OK, I have Re-downloaded from sourceforge, and from the torrent at linux tracker Ultimate Edition 3.2 64 bit, I burned it at 4x speed on my laptop and on this computer,It will not boot into live or install. I get to the starting screen, select language, then options of try without installing, install, check disc etc... Then the error appears. I have tried nomodeset, and all the options listed with the F6 menu, No luck. Any ideas ?
