Ultimate Edition 3.2 64bit install weirdness

Postby Dutch88 » Sat Mar 17, 2012 4:50 am

Downloaded the 64bit version and burned to a DVD+R at high speed (usually works fine)...upon booting to the LIVE/CD environment...the mouse was moving fine and spinning fluidly....but when I went to click on an item it would do nothing.....after about a minute then the item popped in....the next click....same thing. I kept it in this state for about 10 minutes until COMPIZ had an error and it kicked me out to the GNOME/XBMC/Ect.....login. After trying classic and plain versions of gnome I found they were doing the same thing.....BAD burn? Slowed down to 4x and reburned.....same problem. Tried a DVD-R at 4x.....same thing. I am downloading the 32 bit version and trying that. MD5's on the 64bit were fine. Running a Quad Core Q6600 w/GTX 460....3.0 installed but I only tried 32bit. Will update soon......Dutchman

P.S. I really have to update my signature

Similar issue here on an AMD rig trying to install x64. Everything appears to load fine, but the interface is unresponsive. Noted that when I can get something to happen, windows have no boarder. MD5 and disc verification indicate no errors (burned my DVD at 2.4x). Tried all manner of options from the initial boot menu, but so far, no luck. Any other ideas would be much appreciated. :)

To be clear, this is prior to installing while running on the Live DVD. Can not even get the installer to run. Become unresponsive to mouse clicks, although SOME keyboard input works (I can tab between UI elements)... just can't click anything. Eventually seems to lock up, so I have been unable to install.
Clearly, the graphics are not working correctly, as there are no window boarders. I m using a NVidia GTX470 graphics adapter.
This machine runs 2.9 very well, so I know all hardware is in working order.

Hi folks, I had trouble downloading the full system. I got partial downloads the 1st 2 times when 3.2 was just starting to get swamped
with users downloading. I got 1.8 then 1.2 GB. 3rd try got me 2.7 and K3b told me it matched for size.
Now that I have a DVD it seems to work just perfect. Try to reburn at a low speed (recommended) or redownload the iso.
On the 1st day the servers can get overloaded.

Same here. The mouse stops working. Tabbing works for a while and everything stops. There is no activity on the CD. Seems like something is plugging up in ram. Can't pull any logs.
