Ultimate Edition VS Slackware/Opensuse/Fedora/Mandriva

Youtube and other sites review a ton of linux stuff.

Almost all linux reviews on YOUTUBE are done in VirtualBox  :View more smilies :clubbed
And monkeying around like that is worse than using any other os-windowz/macosx etc :faceslap

Tested and installed "stuffh" and here are my conclusions.

Installed slackware--just does not cut it....TOo geeky without sense.
Opensuse-- beautiful! but video drivers crap out/ RAID sucks.
Fedora--- works with minimal issues --- if and only if you want to take the red pill and see how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
Mandriva--- still waiting on itself!!

Arch linux-- slave out and learn and it will become your slave
lubuntu-- a sparrow that scares the raptor
Gentoo-- requires years of work and hard labour and now automates your home using one4all remote.
Sabayon-- an endoskeleton without a motor.

Ubuntu-- prototyping.
Kubuntu-- swiss army knife engine.
Ultimate Edition-- swiss army knife engine integrated into a UAV with enhanced night-vision and directly buffering data to a revised ASIMO sitting in Honda labs(japan)/ part time Koenigsegg engine prototyping(i hope i dont get a "copyrighted" wack for using names).
BlackOpal-- if people knew it will give a hard time to ps3/4, xbox360/720 and Mac os x lion.

AND no, no other distro is worth any thing.
.

Variety bloat is dead and was taking linux into the bottomless pit.

ANd yes RAID and crossfireX works with Ultimate Edition better than with WINDOwz.

Being an OS realist, I would call Windows 7 a Cadillac. It does everything and does it with style and power. If I want to play any PC game? No prob. Play any movie or music file? Easier said than done. No workarounds, no googling for answers or visiting forums for obscure command line procedures. I know this is basically a Linux-oriented forum, but we have a section for Windows and it should be recognized as a legitimate OS, not denigrated at every opportunity. If it wasn't fundamentally better at what it does than Linux, guess what? Linux or Mac would have overtaken Windows' marketshare years ago.

Being a life realist, I'll throw the following analogy into the mix...
If 'Betamax' was better than 'VHS', it would have ruled the roost.
We all know what happened there.
Nikola Tesla is another example that's now coming to the fore.
Unfortunately, in this world, money talks. The 'under the table' deals dont promote excellence.
Deserving inventions, deserving people, better systems always lose out if there's not a quick buck in it for someone, somewhere.
Ron Paul might be another example, but I just don't understand US politics well enough to back that one up. ;) :)

I'd say Windows 7 has all of those. My opinion. Let's not forget real people work at Microsoft, not demons and monsters, lol. It's a good product, that simple.

i have more respect for win7 as an operating system.
games and software galore, it rules.
i was not windows bashing but giving a linux vs linux perspective.
Microsoft always talks funny and people know its all lies unlike Apple who want billions for being funny with their fruit.

Don't misunderstand my intentions here.
Many a great person works at Microsoft.
Many a great person works at Canonical and all other distro's as well.
However, we need to address the 'Elephant in the room'.

Let's compare apples with apples (pun intended).
If hardware manufacturers provided the same support to Linux as they do to Windows...
If software houses provided the same push on both platforms...
If game coders provided the same effort and titles on both platforms...
maybe, just maybe, we might be able to do a fair comparison.
Making money is the priority and not a reward for providing excellence.
Just to clear the air too, I personally have never denigrated Windows. Microsoft on the other hand... I have a big issue with.

Cheers. :D

I feel like i have to add a few comments here. First things first. Microsoft is not a competitor. lol. (had to clear the air) Linux has a limited user base when it comes to the desktop arena. Now the reasons behind that are not due to inferiority, but are targeted more towards the limited society of advanced computer users. This is all changing as Linux becomes more user friendly. Now here in the US, Society likes to adopt trends and has become lazy to the fact that Microsoft and Mac arent the only solution. I mean really, 99% of Iphone users couldnt tell u why they own one. That's because its what everyone else has. Same with Microsoft. But lets not forget that Linux already dominates the Server Market bye over 60%, and in the Supercomputer Markets it's over 90%. Not to mention the Android Market helpin to get the word out. Love my Droid and ASUS Prime. You wont catch me with no trendy iphone or ipad. And if I'm playin games its on the Playstation. Not on the damn Computer. Lets get real. (It may take a short time or a long while-thought id throw that in for a little microsoft dig) lol

Yes., and just like a caddy it is still a Chevrolet and constantly breaks down just as often. Same engine parts, same breaks just a nicer leather package lol.. Linux is more like an Excalibur kit car. No matter what frame and engine you start out with it can be totally custom and be yours. And Möbius, I still think betamax was better than VHS. It had slightly better record quality and could get 2 more hours on a tape, not to mention it would copy over the copy guard without issue. It was just more pricey and VHS won the video tape wars.... Now how about those old record sized video disks hahaha.
