I am looking for the easiest method to unlock/reset the bios password on a Dell 910 Mini with Windows XP. I found a program to do the task, but was wondering if removing the battery would do the same thing? Or anything easier as the program was designed for setup on USB via windows. I currently only run Ultimate Edition 3.5, but have a copy of XP laying around, it's just a pain to install cause I don't like it on the same drive, so I have to open my case to put a spare drive in. :( Thanks if anyone has the answer.

The CMOS battery being removed for a while might reset it. Maybe...

What is the version and name of the BIOS software..?
There are various key strokes to reset it after you have entered the correct password.
Else the only way would be cmos battery. Is your ssd asking for password or bios .?

I'm not sure of the bios version. I believe it to be stock for this model. It asks for password upon boot, but before Windows starts. I know of the jumper method, but not how to do it on a netbook. I believe it is the bios asking as it will not let me enter bios settings without the password even upon command to do so at boot.

It's the same as for desktop pc. But you gotto find the jumper, and it will work as for software thats a flip of the coin you might say.

So youdontknow/forgot your bios password..?
I know that once you are in, you can press the down key 4 times and the bios password is cleared. (In phoneix bios)

Yeah, I don't know it. It's a friend of mines. He was given it by the owner who had it sitting for a while and forgot their password, so gave it away because it was old and they have a new one. This thing is the size of a portable DVD player with XP stock. LOL Ancient. I suppose I will just look online for a blueprint to find the jumper, provided it isn't soldered in place (I'm not readily familiar with insides of laptops and netbooks, but can still find my way around.)

Yeah, thanks. The software I found was on a forum that was specifically stated to work on this model, but to set up the software properly on the USB flash, I need Windows. I have a copy of XP laying around, but that seemed too much trouble just to install it for this when I was fairly certain there was another way. I think I got it covered now. I'm gonna try removing the cmos battery first for about 10 minutes and then do the jumper if that doesn't work. I guess I should really already know this stuff as I do for my desktops. It's just been awhile since I've played with a laptop or netbook, so I'm a little off. :)
