Evolution Mail port manipulation

Postby erko » Sat Dec 17, 2011 12:04 pm

How does one go about changing/manipulating outgoing (smtp) ports, within a 'pop3' setup, in Evolution (v/ 2.32.2), within Ultimate Edition 3.0?

- I don't find any reference to it in Evolution's 'FAQ,' nor do I find a supporting forum for Evolution and nor do I see an Evolution update in Synatic.

If it is a 'terminal' script maneuver, I'll really need help!!! :(

Thank you in advance!

Evolution Mail port manipulation SOLVED

Postby erko » Sat Dec 17, 2011 3:02 pm

FYI / Resolution:
The way to manipulate the outgoing port numbers for pop3 / smtp server in Evolution v/ 2.32.2, within Ultimate Edition 3.0, is as follows . . .

. . . a colon (:) immediately follows (no spaces) after the 'smtp' address; and immediately following the colon (:) (no spaces) is the desired port number.

EXAMPLE - Server: [ smtp.abc.net:587 ]

It works (You folks probably already know of of this?! ) - - I tried it!

BTW, I can't take credit for this. Someone else figured it out. I'm just passing it on to others

Thanks again! :)
