I'm sorry to say

Postby Killer boi » Tue Aug 10, 2010 3:56 am

Well, I really hate doing this, but for now I don't think I'll be using Ultimate Edition, you guys do great work, but I have like 12 coasters now, until I can get something larger than a 2GB USB flash disk I'm afraid I'll have to go back to Ubuntu, maybe I could explore some other Ubuntu based releases for a while and see if I can suggest ways to better Ultimate Edition. ^^ Hopefully I could try scrounging up enough money for an 8gb flash disk or something. Although, I would like to know if there are ways I could get the things added to Ultimate Edition so I could still continue with the same user interface and effects

Hello Killer boi.

well now ,First on this days flash Drive is not so expansive to my knowledge.
But I do not Enter to anyones pocket ;)
And well for your solution , Yes there is A way sure.
Delete KDE,XFCE.. just live the Gnome on your system.
Now you will have all the space that you need to work with U.E and not Ubuntu. ;)

I'm sorry, but as I speak fairly fluent English, I don't really understand what you are saying.

Killer boi,

Let me try to explain it to you once more time.
If you have install the U.E on your flash Drive 2G.
Then you BOOT to your flash Drive (into U.E),
Open synaptic search for KDE, then you can Delete the packages of the KDE Workspace.
Then go in search for XFCE and do the same.
NOW hope this is more clear to you.

You say to install it to my 2GB flash drive first, but that's the problem, Ultimate Edition usually ranges from 3gb-4gb and I cannot get that on my flash drive.

Killer boi ,

Let me try one more way with you.
you can install the U.E on the HDD.
After you have install the system on your HDD,
Then Delete all the Workspace - just live Gnome.
Now you can use Remastersys or any other software that you like to make ISO from the system.

Then see what will be the size of the Gnome/Ultimate Edition
Then if you have the space on the flash Drive here is your solution to the issue.

Have you considered borrowing a 4GB or larger flash drive from someone to do the install?
Have them backup everything they have on it to a hard drive. Use the startup disk creator, install from it, then just reformat it and move all their stuff back on it.
Doesn't hurt to ask. You never know, they may want to boot it up and try it out once you tell them what you want to borrow it for.
Can't think of another easy solution at the moment.

I see brand new usb 4GB flash drives on ebay for under $10 shipped. I don't know what else to suggest at this point other than copying the iso to another pc with a usb hard drive and burning it using that pc's dvd burner.
;)
EDIT: Warning removed from Killer boi's last post referring to Warez (as given by JaSoN369). I found no link in the post leading to anything warez related, or any mention of anything of that type in his post. Please be clear about what you believe is objectionable when warning other members. Thank you.
