Just for clarification:
When TheeMahn makes a release he doesn't just take the vanilla Ubuntu kernel add a few pieces of software and add his own themes.
NO, NO, NO, He starts work on it when it's still an alpha, and starts solving the conflicts with packages that he commonly uses. he also integrates new cool apps and works the bugs out of any conflicts with them as well.
So the whole time the Ubuntu kernel is in development he's building and updating the new repo and working on the release at the same time. When Ubuntu has their final release, he puts it through more recoding until everything integrates well with no known conflicts. By the time Ultimate Edition is ready for release, he has tweaked or rewritten sections of the code for several of the packages and modules. That's why Ultimate Edition not only has a better standard package (applications) selection but in most cases better hardware support.
It's like OC or Big Dog choppers.
They take a standard Harley Davidson motor, put their special tweaks to it, put it in a totally custom frame, with totally custom accessories & parts. What you end up with isn't a Harley, because only some of the motor was Harley to start with. A big difference than just replacing the tank and seats on a standard Harley.
Yes you can take the latest Ubuntu kernel, add the Ultimate Edition repo's & themes, and end up with a real nice OS,
but it won't run like Ultimate Edition.
