Ubuntu with HDTV Sharp LC42DX1E

Postby jim42 » Sat Nov 03, 2007 1:34 am

Hi

This distro has very good display drivers. It can handle 1920*1080 standard native resolution panels like Sharp LC42DX1E quite good in first connection. It makes some kind of auto detection I quess.
My configuration is as follows.

Radeon nForce2 AGP 9600Pro wih ATI chipset PowerColor R96A-C3N
MoBo Gigabyte GA 7N400 Pro 2

Only problem is that currently I cannot reduce desktop size. It is about 1 inch higher than panel itself so I have to guess where to click to find main menus from the top of the screen.

What do you have your resolution set at? you can change it by System>Preference>Screen Resolution. Try dropping it down..to change the desktop click any open space on the desktop and you will get a menu window..somebody better at this will surely come along that can help you better.. ;)

I'm not thee expert cowboy refered too - I'm an Nvidia guy, drama1981 is the man your looking for. But I think I could point you to HERE, I think these are all universal problems with xorg.conf issues. The post I refer you too applies to ATI settings for xorg.conf configuration. I hope this helps :D I've gone through this many times with same issues with Nvidia cards in this forum, so its not allways just ATI ;)
