Linux Spamminator???

Postby BBOSAK2143 » Fri Mar 08, 2013 9:52 am

I guess I am not the only one these days that is busy! I have looked for information on this utility that least sounds good, but found none. Installed it set to 1 in config file in etc/defaults, but I see nothing happening? I suppose the people who came up with it just do not feel they need to explain how to use it??? Or perhaps they do not have the time to???? Never the less, if anyone has a clue how to get that program engaged would be grateful!!! Am really tired of all this spam, especially, these imposter's can not even take the time to spell anything right!!! Anyway if anyone has experience with this program would also love to hear how it works and if it is successful? Thanks in advance!

I think I really lost my marbles now!!! Is not Spamminator, is Spammassasin. Lot of troubles these days and just not thinking so clearly. I think is more of a server program as am currently reading about it. If life could only run half as smooth as this Linux OS I made, would sure be nice!!! That would be a quarter of Ultimate!!! Apologize for this and now know why I did not find information. I installed through synaptic. Sounded nice, like something I would want and would dump all those money grubbers.( If they only knew how broke I am, probably would not send!!!) I just can't seem to win at times!!! Maybe by next version of my OS will come to my senses, will have to see. For now, is different but does its job. Can only hope for a smashing success next time, right??? Also hope all this futzing around with different programs will help Ultimate stay on top! I find something that is awesome will keep aprised!!!Takes a lot of time all this stuff, and if I can save someone else some time, such as the very best Developer TheeMahn, you know I will!!!! He works hard to get all of us the very best! Anything to help will do! No matter how far I get putting one of these Linus OS's together will not forget who got me there!!!

Well in that case then http://spamassassin.apache.org/ Be sure to check the FAQ about using SpamAssassin and Documentation. Not too sure why you need, enless your running a mail/web server? Are you using Evolution Mail? What issues are you having on your workstation? We are here to help... Please note that I personally expect Ubuntu to become more spammed as it seems inevitable with the direction they are going. Here's some info on spamassassin on Evolution:

1 Launch the Synaptic Package Manager by selecting "System," "Administration," "Synaptic Package Manager."
2 Type "spamassassin" into the search box at the top right.
3 Right-click the package "SpamAssassin" and select "Install."
4 Click "Apply" to install the package.
5 Launch Evolution by selecting "Applications," "Internet," "Evolution Mail."
6 Select "Edit," "Plug-ins."
7 Ensure that "SpamAssassin" is checked and click "OK."
8 Select "Edit," "Preferences" and select the "Mail Preferences" tab,
9 Ensure that "Check incoming messages for junk" is checked and click "OK."

Yes next time before I install, will look up on the net. Am not a server so is no need for it! I thought was for personal use as synaptic made no reference to server. Oh well, have to learn someway, right? Am going to dump it today as it seems is adding a little confusion to the system! Will admit at times am like a kid in candy store with synaptic. Something sounds great, I put it in. I guess are drawbacks to that! Live and learn is mostly what I do. Last year at this time, was just starting to get into PC-BSD. I never thought in a million years would be using my own OS a year later, is very very strange!!! Have a very very long way to go though as am only on the ground floor of all this!!!! Way too much to learn, but will keep trying, asking questions and deeply appreciate all the great answers I get from here! That is why I love it here so much and stay here and hope to help as much as everyone has helped me!
