Is There a Random Internet Photo Screensaver?

Postby Driver » Wed Nov 16, 2011 5:10 pm

Hello. Is there a screensaver for Gnome that will download random photos from the Internet (probably from one of the image-hosting sites?) and display them?

I'm using UE2.7 32-bit.

Thanks in advance.

"Nother possiblity is Wally...

Supposedly supports:
DeviantART
Vladstudio
Google
Smug Mug
Picasa
Buzznet
Photobucket
Yahoo
Flickr
and a couple I can't read clearly.

I just use it for local files, so can't give any details of what kind of support it has for each site.

Odd - When I type webilder into Synaptic, nothing is shown.

Thanks. I will look at both of them..

And will consider a custom job if neither of the above end up suiting me.

It's not all about choices - functionality, prowess, intuitiveness, the ability to upgrade to a newer OS without a mandatory hardware upgrade, attitude and approachability of those who put the thing together, et cetera are all important (and knowing that last year I had features that other OS might have next year, or not at all, is nice too) - but choice is part of it. And you've given me several. Thanks.

I did find Webcollage via Synaptic Package Manager. But the images it displays are small in size; I was looking more for an app that displayed each image one at a time full-screen - or, if the source image is smaller than that, centered on a black background would be nice. Also, I watched WC for a few minutes and noticed that some of the images press the boundary between tasteful and "raunchy porn site" and feel that it is not appropriate for a computer that is seen by a variety of different people.

Try apt-get install "the program name" without the quotations in a terminal or google and find a .deb file somewhere.

It displays fullscreen when installed. Webilder, that is.
