Iv been having all kinds of trouble installing drivers for my Epson Workforce 545 , I finnaly found out the LBS package must be installed first , you can get this at Epson site ,just about every other sorce has dropped the dowload file for linux based systems and direct you to Epson . Yea ! You can find the LSB package from them buts that is all .... I searched all through Epsons site always coming back to only LBS package down loads. I then called Epson support and after I explained all the trouble I was having in finding the driver package for linux. He said the LBS package was all Epson was offering and I would have to get the drivers fron my OS Hmmmmm. So I used Synaptics to locate Epson and it pulled up various drivers and maintence , liberies for read and write ect. 11 in all I clicked install on all that it would allow. first 3 attempts of this resulted in Error cannot install broken files, then the 4th try and wha la it installed them.... but no candy bar yet :x as I saw when I pluged my USB cable back into my computer and fired up the printer, going into applications then down to other click on epson .....new message poped up saying Error cannot launch file is empty or (contains only white space). Im so ust to seeing this message I see it in my dreams  Can anyone tell me what a broken file is and how you fix it, does it mean its currupted and only the writer on the download can fix it ?

LOL I have not figured it out how to use the options in putting a sgnature in as there are no directions...just like yours thats very neat and I like it, how did you put the x and circular Icons on it? and how do you keep your systen dicreption in every reply and posting you ,make without typing it in all? this site is allot like Linux you have to figure out every thing your self or ask someone else . But it has a wealth of info here.

Wish I would have got into this a few days back with you, apologize for that. On Epson's site all you have to do is look up the printer and download all the drivers for it. Generally there is 4 debs for them. So what you have to do is get them in one folder and do dpkg -i *.deb and then all four will install. I should have mentioned this on current OS I put together as will most likely benefit anyone having these Epson printers. I learned the hard way that have to install all at the same time and I mean to insure others will not go through as many hassles. Yes, lsb desktop has to be there, but most times when installing in the manner described will let you know then just do apt-get install for what it needs. I have the XP-300 myself and it does work very well. Of course at present am still out of ink, but scanning works great. I put all this stuff in when I am building my OS. Is the beauty of building your own, but there are a dozen drawbacks also. I also recommend saving those debs as generally for these drivers there is no change. Remember, I have been installing these drivers for the past 2 OS's and in-between experiments which is roughly around 4, so helps to hold on to those.

Am hoping at some point you may check out some of my rants as I do my best to offer whatever I learn. Wish you the best on everything and am glad you do have it all solved. Linux has a great wealth of programs for printers, so am sure you will do great with it.

epson-inkjet-printer-201106w-1.0.1-1lsb3.2.i486.rpm 1.79 MB
epson-inkjet-printer-201106w_1.0.1-1lsb3.2_i386.deb 1.79 MB

I clicked on the: epson-inkjet-printer-201106w_1.0.1-1lsb3.2_amd64.deb 1.79 MB because i have a AMD processor and my OS is the 64.deb vertion thinking this was the whole driver package and the other 4 dowloads are only Intel compatible. was thinking correct?
