Ultimate Edition 3.01 - Can't connect to 802.11n?

Help & support for Ultimate Edtion 3.0

Ultimate Edition 3.01 - Can't connect to 802.11n?

Postby AznTech » Fri Mar 02, 2012 11:29 pm

First off, let me say 3.01 is great, beyond expectations.

However I've been having trouble getting it to connect using 802.11n.

Here is the breakdown;

- System is a T61 Lenovo
- Using the iwl4965 wifi driver
- SSID is hidden
- WPA2 security protocol
- I have already added the "options iwlagn 11n_disable=0" line to iwl4965.conf and iwlagn.conf files

However I cannot get it to connect using 11n. I'm running a dual band router and I have no trouble getting it to connect to 11g (also hidden ssid with WPA security) though.

I've tried upgrading the kernel to 3.0 and adding the router MAC address to the wifi setup. Still no luck.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestions pch.shot.

I'll save that as a last resort. In the meantime, can someone tell me how I can switch from using iwl4965 back to iwlagn?

If I rmmod iwl4965 and modprobe iwlagn, the network-manager no longer allows for wireless connections.

On a side note, if I run the "modprobe iwl4965 11n_disable=0, I get the following error "FATA: Error inserting iwl4965 (/lib/modules/2.6.38-13-generic/updates/cw-2.6.39/iwl4965.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter"

dmesg gives me the following;

"iwl4965: Unknown parameter '11n_disable'"

Check and see if your card is supported. If not try ndiswrapper.

Thanks for all your help pch. I re-installed the the whole thing again. For some reason I can only get my card to work if I upgrade the kernel to 3.0.

Its not worth it to use the upgraded kernel so I'm going to use your suggestion and go with the ndiswrapper.

Thanks again!
