This would be useful. Lots of people with 4GB+ memory these days.

I'll use the pae kernel if there isn't going to be a 64 bit edition but I'll wait for a 64 bit if there is going to be one. Is there going to be one eventually?

You can do that, but i have found, it is always best to do a fresh install. Save what you want on a usb drive and format the hd and start from scratch.

geordiejohn ,

Here is Tip for you and others on the site.
32bit & 64bit has there own repo's.
So when you install 32bit on 64bit there is Diferences between the 2 Systems.
Now if you will Upgrade the System that will not cover all the packages that you need.
were is the proplem?
The problem start at the begining with the Dependences of the packages!!!
The 32 has Different Dependences in the package BUILD.
The Kernel of the 64bit has needs for the Video Cards like PAE Kernel,
And you will see in the near time that you will get Upgrads for the Kernels + relevant Dependences.

Like pch.shot,
it is always best to do a fresh install
+1

why?

Because when you install new system all the Drivers, plug ins and so on...
will be recordnaized During the installation process + the System will get from the Update Server the Update list of Software,Drivers and so on - Up to date to install.

So ppl,
the best way to get your System up and runing will be clean install on your HDD.
Hope that explain the Answer for your Q.

Amir.
