Xfce Version of Ultimate Edition?

Help & support for Ultimate Edtion 3.0

Xfce Version of Ultimate Edition?

Postby wolfgar » Sun Oct 16, 2011 5:21 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am having a lot of problems with the newer versions of Ubuntu! My plan is the stay with Ultimate Edition 2.6.3 until April 2013 because everything works great. The question is what do I do after that date?

Is there anyone that is interested in an Xfce version of Ultimate Edition for the next LTS edition?

Just a thought!

Catch 22

hardware intended life span is 3 years.

After 3 years is starts to degrade loosing a percentage per year.

Your computer being alive by then would be a strait up miracle and even then it would have lost a good deal of its performance.

Next LTS will be for systems built from 2009 on

That said, we (Ultimate Edition dev team) might look at a hybrid mixed with old and new this next year . To offer the new and old a prolonged life.

Somthing we can look into. You didn't join the Ultimate Edition dev team. You were invited, could use your radio tray expertise .

Yes, you are correct. However, all my money goes to my son's new computer equipment, I get the leftover's. He is sixteen year old in his second year of college going into computer engineering. So I will suffer through the leftover's until he is able to design and build me a new computer.

I am just an old military guy that is stuck in his old Gnome 2 Desktop ways. I really dislike KDE, Gnome 3, and Unity. Call me old fashion, I guess. The new cell phone desktops just don't cut it for me. My computer will run most of then but I just don't like them.

I would love to help but I don't have a lot of extra time. However, I would be glad to help anyway I can.
I do have a recently updated bookmarks.xml file for Radio Tray. I will attach it to this message. If anyone wants to use it just:

1. Go you your home folder, view menu, show hidden files.
2. copy bookmarks.xml to ~/.local/share/radiotray/
3. Right Click on Radio Tray and Reload Bookmarks.
4. Done

Thanks for your input, I am trying your PCT Destined Edition on another computer. However, it really is hard to teach an old dog new tricks! I use to say "If you can read you can do anything!" I just have a lack of desire to read a lot in my old age. :D

Sky's the limit on what can be done

I could even teach ya how to make your own lol

I my self would just use Ultimate Edition 2.6.3

In 2013 it will still work, you will just need to manually update things once support ends.
