Broadcom Wireless

Help & support for Ultimate Edtion 3.0

I have 2 4311 broadcomes in house and each work flawless with ONLY 3.0.0-8.10 kernel installed.

So I know it works, very common wireless card.

No idea why it isn't working for you, perhaps other packages are missing.

Doubt it, they both worked out of the box for lite and gamers.

BUT, I do have a plan b now that 3.0.0-8.10 kernel is installed

download and install

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/76848886/b43-fwcutter_014-9_i386.deb

http://launchpadlibrarian.net/76848883/firmware-b43-installer_014-9_all.deb

then run

Code: Select all
sudo modprobe b43
dmesg | grep b43
iwconfig

Code: Select all
sudo su
echo b43 >> /etc/modules
exit

Lets hope that does it.

So, I decided to try again, removed fwcutter to install the one you recommended I download, and the firmware-b43-installer says "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: b43-fwcutter (>=1:014-9)"

b43-fwcutter has to be installed first and then the installer.

They MUST be installed in the very order I listed them.

Thats what I tried, unless I need to reboot between the install.

I'm starting to think of reverting to what I know works, instead of trying to screw with a 6 year old laptop anymore.
