Ralink WiFi not working [SOLVED]

Hi

Installed UE2.9 on my new computer and got no Wi Fi. Works fine on an older machine with a Broadcom Card but the new machine has a Ralink RT3092 half card and I can't get it working
I found some drivers rt2860.bin, 2010_1217_RT3090_LinuxSTA_V2.4.0.4_WiFiBTCombo_DPO ,
compat-wireless-2.6.35.1.tar.bz2 and compat-wireless-2.6.36.5.tar.bz2 but I don't know how to install them. Clicking on the compat makefile gets a dialogue box asking me if I want to run it in terminal or just run it but nothing seems to happen and am using cable to get it on line
Can anyone help please?

I'm ashamed to say that all my programming experience is Microsoft oriented so I don't fully understand this code.

But I cut and pasted it into terminal, rebooted, and it worked !

Many thanks

yes im glad it worked..of course it works
but i dont overstand why you installed 2.9 on your new
machine.2.9 is not LTS and its supposed to be done.
I had to let it go a few months ago..no updates.
But you know what you are doing ..nice to meet you

Older versions of linux run faster on new machines and 2.9 gui is much more customisable than recent versions I can get it looking and sounding perfect for my taste and preferences.

I noticed this thread is marked solved, is that something I should have done if so how?, or are only admin allowed to do that ?
