Problem after update Linux kernel to 2.6.35-31 and *-32

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 2.9

Problem after update Linux kernel to 2.6.35-31 and *-32

Postby gosho » Fri Jan 20, 2012 5:15 pm

I have installed Ultimate Edition 2.9 x86 32bit.
I have problem after update and installing Linux kernel 2.6.35-31 ( and Linux kernel 2.6.35-32 too ).
Linux load and prompt to log-in in text mode, not in graphic mode. Any attempt to start GUI ( startx ) was failed with errors.
And I still loading my Ultimate Edition 2.9 with Linux kernel 2.6.35-30.

I solved my problem. it has to do with the nvidia (video) driver at startup.
here is what i did-
1. Boot up
2. at grub screen select recovery for the new kernel
3. when the blue selection box appears select load with limited(low) graphics option
4. you should have a 640x800 gui screen now
5. login
6. open a terminal and type- sudo apt-get update, then sudo apt-get upgrade
7. after that open additional drivers from main menu
8. uninstall/de-activate the nvidia driver, then REBOOT
9. reboot, login, then open additional drivers again and active the nvidia driver.
