1 thing, temp lies with these chips on any linux.

Next, this a fresh install and did you add anything else as of yet ?

Please provide all detail possible on what has been done as of thus far.

Next

2.6.35 does a crappy job with i5 i7 boost and cpu handling.

Upgrading to 2.6.38 kernel made all the difference.

Did your wireless require additional drivers or did it work out of the box so to speak ?

graphics, what driver did you use ? Current or did you use the driver base I have posted on here for 270.38 ?

I did a fresh install with nothing added..My wireless worked great out of the box and I used the current Nvidia driver...I thought about the new Kernel and I see you have a tutorial up but does the new kernel work well with nvidia was my concern....Normal install like the rest of my machines...

2.6.38.2 for nvidia fully working use my tutorial for installing the latest driver, 270.38 I think .

2.6.37.6 fully working with ATI

Giving your wireless worked out of the box, I would say your looking at a very painless process upgrading the kernel chief.

Made all the difference on my 540m i5 and boost with kernel 2.6.38.2 candera. Showed a 42% boost once finished.

Would also recommend removing any startup apps not needed. You should see a 336 mb of ram used at boot with x64 tops.

Other then that, really don't know what other advice I can give other then try a fresh install one more time.

That laptop is a beast my friend lol. Linux on x64 will NEVER use 4 GB little less 12 GB. Resource hound windows 7 that can use 3.2 GB of ram at boot, still doubt it.

12 GB is more for extreme high end servers. But I guess the old saying, better to have and not need, then need and not have applies here.

Did the trick on AMD x6 with turbo core as well.

You should see ruffly 40 to 45% performance boost with the new kernel. Quite frankly, it should hall azz on Ultimate Edition 2.9 lol.

Everything is better, I mean Damn it runs good, yeah this new kernel is all that and a bag of chips. Im running a 128Gb SSD and everything will be fast anyway but this runs at a blink of an eye fast. I imagine Ultimate Edition 3.0 will be released with this new kernel as well.

Rumor 2.6.39 is being tested as possible natty final release.

Right now natty is up to 2.6.38-8

So who knows, not able to get natty to even run on my main system yet due to lack of ATI driver support.
