I have a Toshiba Satellite (p505-8945 or something to that effect). I can boot to the login prompt, enter name/password and I get the boot up sound, but after that...nothing. I can move the mouse around on the 2.8 background but there's nothing there.

Is this a bug...am I doing something wrong>

I'm running the 64bit version if that matters.

could be a bad burn or bad install

Could be a bad driver

Have you tried Ultimate Edition 2.9 yet ?

After looking over your specs, suspect I know the problem.

Would boot to safe graphics mode , then activate the ATI FGLRX drivers.

restart and see if that helped.
