cant login to Ultimate Edition 2.8 live dvd need username and password

If I remember right the user name is ubuntu and the password just leave blank

I think you have a bad download !! Download Ultimate Edition 2.8 again, and reburn at the slowest speed !

I also had this problem the first 2 times I tried to boot from the 'Live disk", I asked for assistance like you just did and then the 3rd time the disk booted all the way to the desktop. Not sure why this happened in the first place, there is no good reason why one would need to have a login and password to boot to a "Live disk". Some of my computers have 2 DVD drives, I could have picked the first 2 times a slower drive. If you continue to have problems try downloading and burning another disk, or brand of disks as slow as possible. Could also be a bad DVD drive, in that it doesn't run as fast as it needs too to consistently boot the "Live disk". You can also try using a flash drive to install Ultimate Edition. Hope you get to boot up to the desktop and install Ultimate Edition, if not Please let us know. dathem

I know this is a little late, but I was messing around with 2.8 on my old PC (fail) but anyways, the same thing happened to me and it wasn't a bad burn, or a bad drive. I just entered Ubuntu and left password blank. No problems. Right on (Time). Oddly, it did not ask for this on a Virtualbox install I did on my other PC so I think it might be associated with how long it takes the PC to load the live disc or something.
