error 15 on Grub

Help and support for Ultimate Edition 2.8

error 15 on Grub

Postby dodge ram » Thu Dec 30, 2010 10:01 am

I have 2.3 installed IDE 120 gig HD. On a 320 Gig SATA HD I have win XP. When I tried to upgrade to 2.8 I get a error 15 on Grub. I re-installed 2.3 and Grub works fine. I am new to Ubuntu and I am trying to learn and I can't figure this out. In simple terms, can anyone help me out. I would like to get 2.8 to work. Or should I wait for 2.9? Thanks

I installed 2.8 while running the trial program. I clicked the install icon on the desktop. That was the only way I could figure out how to install it. I have a MSI K8N Neo4 MB with a AMD 64 3.7 processor. Radeon X300SE PCI video card. Seagate IDE 120 Gig running Ubuntu. SATA 320 Gig running Win XP. Should I format the Ubuntu drive and do a fresh install that way to make it easy?

I went into the bios and changed my boot order. CD 1st Ubuntu drive 2nd then Win XP. Installed 2.8 and changed the boot menu back to have Win Xp boot 1st. Grub works good now.Thanks. I am trying and learning.
