About the issue with update removing Ultimate Edition, I went for it as I saw no mention of removing anything related to Ultimate Edition (as far as my novice eyes could tell). Seems the same issue has occurred, and I am back with a plain system. Has anyone determined what the issue is or what program is causing the removal?

On my second Update of the system I have found the issue that is the main issue on your machine problems.



So how we going to be smarter ?
Take screen shot from the Upgrade from synaptic , save it to your Desktop ,then install the packages one by one
and see what are the Dependences for any package that you about to install on your machine.
when you will come across the Dependences of the U.E customization DO NOT INSTALL THIS PACKAGE!!
all the rest of the packages can be installed on your system / just not the packages that will Delete the U.W customization.

Compiz = will Delete your U.E Customization!

OK to get the update/upgrade in the safe way you can make it easy to do.HOW?
well you will have like 92 updates/upgrades from KDE , then just search in synaptic for "kde",
Then mark all the updates/upgrades in one time = package after package not full all in one mark.
First I will go to the Kernel alone for upgrade the Kernel to 2.6.35.14 = 5 packages,
Then Restart the machine ,and go on with the rest of the update / upgrades that you have there.
The impotent thing will be to look into the upgrade process with - upgrade/To be installed.



Then when we see that all cool there and the package of U.E Customization is not there we can prosed with the process of the installation.
one more point here for you is with few packages under the same name like:
python,ttf,apt,KDE,Gnome and so on - you can find them under the same search in synaptic.

The packages that will remain not install will be:



Let me add some more info for you on getting this process with easy way.
in synaptic (down left side), you can use the Filters to see After reload,
mark all upgrade the packages for upgrade.
there you can change the Filters to Upgrade packages - this will show the packages to be upgrade.
Now you can mark one by one for upgrade - just watch out from compiz packages DO NOT INSTALL THEM.



No we can see the Compiz packages that will be left.




The last thing that I will add to this post is about crash in the - update-apt-xapian-index (Debian index packages).
You can Edit the file and end this bug on your machine with the easy way to go.

Go to => /etc/cron.weekly/apt-xapian-index
open the Editor that you like to work with an Edit the file to look like this one:

Here is the part 2 from how to stay alive after Ubuntu trap.

After more then 1500 packages update/upgrade until Today,
I have decided to try the Ubuntu trap with the U.E customize package remove !
well yes until Today I have hold the package+compiz packages not install & not removed.
So let's try to make things In short to the point.

1- I have allow to synaptic to remove the U.E customize package + install compiz + update/Upgrade.
that end my system!!
2- No worry that is just fine with me.
then I have log in to the workspace that has no bars,no menu etc..
So right click on the Desktop , browse as root+ pass,then browse home folder looking for hidden files.
there I was looking for Thee =>.bash_history.
right click on the file =>terminal here.
copy all the file from there and past it into the terminal.
all keys start to pop up in the terminal ,then:

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

at the end I made update/upgrade to the system,and here we go back after restart to our U.E Desktop.

So this is my solution to the Ubuntu trap with the U.E customize package remove.
Yes there are some missing in FF Themes ,
and all the fun with compiz that is part of The customize package is gone = well the lost for me is not so bad.
but the Desktop work and all the software that I need works , so that was not so bad to make the test.
The purple background of Ubuntu is only in the log in window.
Now I need to install the package of the U.E customize package & hope that all will work back.

In order to get FireFox more stabilized & faster here are 2 options for you.

1- UN install the ubuntu plug in from the add ons in firefox = Ubuntu firefox modification.
2- use the flash player from the Adobe site ,and not the free flash player.
you can find the software in the Adobe site & you can install it from => Application => Ubuntu Software Center,
Under search of "Flash player".

This 2 options will get the window load faster and crash less on the net.
and If you use sites that needs the flash player you will see the Difference with the works of firefox.

And Today on the last update we gut the new Kernel - 2.6.35-20.

Today I have run some test to fix some issues on the 2.8 system.
The First issue was with slow working FF and the system work real kind of slow,
So I have upgrade the Kernel once again to = 2.6.35-21(32 bit) with this packages:

linux-image-2.6.35-21-generic_2.6.35-21.30_i386.deb
linux-headers-2.6.35-21-generic_2.6.35-21.30_i386.deb
linux-headers-2.6.35-21_2.6.35-21.30_all.deb

and Extra one:
linux-doc_2.6.35-21.30_all.deb

The packages of the kernel 32 bit:

it will start the Ubuntu software Center to install the Deb package.
when you done with the process Restart your machine (it has backup packages that you will not lose the system & stay with un boot able machine!
well that solve the issue with the slow working system!

now the second part was the issue with the Driver to the Intel,
That did not come with the updates that I have made until now.
So I was thinking that I will have to Grub him in my way.
my way was to fix 2 issues with one step.
The step was with script that will do all the work all in one.
The script is for Compiz to Build all the packages from "Git" Repo.
So the way to go for me was the understanding that if Compiz has new packages that have not Released yet,
Then I need to Grub them in A bit of Force ,The it will Grub the Intel Driver for me to.

The script that will Compile all the packages for you to 0.9,
and will Build it is this:

Now after you have chose the Y option.
The script will start to work (This is kind of long run),so just watch the work and hold your horses.

Hello PPL/ Testers.

I would like to confirm that the issue with the sound was fix.
Today in the First update i saw that ubuntu is going back to alsa as the Default sound server.
There was one update to the sound issue that did not solved the issue with the mute speakers on log in,
But Today this issue was solved ,
and it look like ubuntu at last understand that alsa mixer is better then Pulse Audio
So for now the big issue that was not solved yet is with "Compiz".

Hello, I downloaded the newest 2.8 beta and booted up the live disk, WOW, awesome. The animations on Firefox, awesome. I love all this eye candy! It is difficult for me not to install it, on some drive, on some computer!!

hi! i would like to ask somethong. in 2.8 including a new gnome 3?

Not yet.It's currently 2.31.92 version.

Guess what It's dropped back on my desk again. Still smokin. Loaded old DVD. 600 updates and a nvidia later; we "taking care of business." Compiz a little rufff yet.
Can I have another Ultimate Edition circle on my page yet?
