update manager, update for 2.8

Hello, The update manager announced a partial upgrade of over 300mb, some 15-17 packages removed plus lots of new ones including a new kernel. I allowed this to occur-downloading now, will Ultimate Edition 2.8 still work afterwards, time will tell!?!?!?

Well after restart I now have Conky working. Ultramatix now works as well.


Sysinfo still just quits if I select the System tab.

Hello PPL.

I want to point you for some issues that you will pass on your way with the System.

1- Firestarter will work just After you will make the Update/Upgrade in synaptic.
2- Ubuntu Tweak need to be Download from the Test Packages :
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-tweak-tes ... /+packages
The package that on the Ubuntu Tweak site can crash your synaptic package manager (double source).
So please Avoid the installation from the Ubuntu Tweak site at this point.
The package on the synaptic is Deb DO not install Ubuntu Tweak from synaptic = will not work for you.

4- Remember to setup the pass Re coasted at the log in.
5- You can work with the Guide that I have made for you (Download the files to support your system with Multimedia).
There is one issue that you have to Know - FFmpeg - Do not try to install this package,
it will ask you to Delete allot of needed packages on your system - Remember that!
6-Remember that Ubuntu Tweak is not Release package - So what you gut is what you will have.
7- If you have wireless,you can configure the network BEFORE the installation process start,
Right click on the network icon up top Center,then Edit connection.
insert your network name +pass - and mark the 2 options one on the left up side + down left side:

Then you will have auto connection on the start up of your machine.

Just to let you know , the Audio/Video packages has gut some improve with the performance.

PPL few more words for all of you that makes the testing of 2.8.
First you will need to get your system Stable and with full support that the system can have at this point of time.
Use the Guide of 2.7 to get the max support with the post of the package list that I have made for you.
Download all the files from the post and install all the packages the you see on the screen shots of every name,
every search name.
Then the system will be ready for your testing and then we will be happy to have your all comments,errors,
problems that you have found with software etc..
To get the best Results you need to start from the place that the system is more or less stable.
Then the Fix for the Team will be much easier And for TheeMahn it will save time.
when we will have all the bugs in one basket it will be much quicker to make all the fixing and to go foreword
to the Beta Stage with the system.
Personalty I'm very happy that you all have the time,The Desire, The ability to take A part of the process.
From 2 reasons.
1- this is the best part of learning for the end user of the Ultimate Edition systems.
2- Now you can Understand the U.E Team & TheeMahn with the How much work spend on giving you the best Linux system.

I used the ubuntu-tweak version in the above post but get an error when I try to install it.

Hello PPL.

At this point of time the package for Ubuntu Tweak is 0.5.6.
and it works just fine for me.
The only issue is the update process way , it will update the software,source in the update manger.
It will not update the software,source from the refresh button.
here is the new package for the ubuntu tweak:
