The video below will show you how to install AMD Radeon and other legacy devices and firmware for varied devices from different brands, on linux.
Incase the installation of device driver for your Radeon card fails when you use and download the drivers from http://www.amd.com/drivers this method should prove to be your salvation.

Do you think it would work for my Dinosaur, Pam???? Just curious for the desktop as have my 13.10(Ravenswood) installed so was wondering as you investigate that side much more than I do!!! Find myself lacking in many aspects and glad you are up on so many things!!!

Your card HD 3000 is a bit dated but its not legacy. Legacy means really old(9 years and older) cards. So in that respect your integrated Radeon should be 100% supported.
