ok now this dont make no damn sense. i dont get why its saying they arent there. i double checked the files names in the command with the files names from the screenshot yoiu posted in the admin section and they all match. **sighs** i kno this might be a really really stupid question but are the packages still in /var/tmp?

idk if you reinstalled Ultimate Edition but if you did chances are it wiped /var/tmp

thats the only thing i can possibly think of.

if they are gone then we have to start all over from the very beginning (get needed tools)

beyond that im totally lost. if you wanna give up i totally understand and in that case i would like to thank you for at least giving it a try.

however if you wanna try and figure it out that is fine to.

ill leave it up to you.

okay i dont think our little experiment is going to work. im fresh out of ideas. there is def something weird going on here. the damn packages are right there. but yet its saying no such file or directory.

however i think we can fix that error in the terminal you are getting now.

open synaptics.

search for fglrx (remove everything it finds...choose completely remove) but dont remove xserver-xorg-ati (i think thats the name of it) that is the open source ati driver.

the do the following

Code: Select all
sudo nautilus

browse to /etc

if you see a folder named ati delete that.

then browse to /usr/bin

remove the file amdcccle

then you can kill the nautilus root session (jus close the window).

that should hopefully get rid of that error

i noticed you were trying to install version 8.37 of the fglrx driver as far as im aware this driver doesnt work with compiz. you did know that right?

idk im just a little confused as to why you are installing that version.

but hopefully this trick fixes this latest error you are getting.

im totally lost as to why its saying that those packages arent there. it makes absolutely no sense at all.

thankx again for giving it a try though.

p.s. if this doesnt fix the latest error (error 1) let me kno and ill see if i can dig up a different solution.

umm that might work. the only think is it may complain about dependencies or try to bring in older packages since some of them depend on the others. something you could try doing is dragin them to the desktop and changin your path to /home/YOURUSER/Desktop then running the command again. maybe its just not seeing them for some reason.

i also know that there is a way to add built packages that havnt been installed yet you synaptic but i cant remember how its supposed to be done.

you could still do the double click thing and install them that way but look at what the deps are. and if it wasnt to pull something else in cancel it and try the next. this of course would take some trial and error.

the thing is say if you install one of them and it depends on say xorg-driver-fglrx it will automatically pull in the old version from the repo instead of installing the version we built.

i might be wrong but i think the proper order (if installing them one at a time) is

kernel source
then the driver
then the driver dev file
then amdccc
