How To: Install Broadcom b43 wireless driver in UE3.4

Postby skilo47 » Mon Jul 02, 2012 6:52 pm

In case some people are having problems with their broadcom wireless cards this is an easy fix.

Just go to http://linuxwireless.org/en/users/Drivers/b43/ and look for "Supported Devices" section of the website, It will tell you how to find out what b43 driver your broadcom card supports, Then go to the ubuntu software center and download the right package.

After you install the right driver for your system open terminal and do -

Code: Select all
sudo su

nano /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist

Then add the line

Code: Select all
blacklist wl

Save the file and exit and reboot.

Then in terminal do -

Code: Select all
modprobe b43

This will load the opensource b43 driver and your wireless should work (It worked for me).

Note these instructions may differ depending on what driver your card needs.
