MY TIPS TO MAKE YOUR 3.0 WORK JUST FINE!

Postby onosendai58 » Tue Dec 27, 2011 9:52 pm

I think everyone knows my love/dislike relationship with 3.0, lol. First, I loved it. Then, after a week it annoyed me no end. I went to 2.9 but Ultimate Player wouldn`t install. So, I went back to my fave:2.6.3 LTS. But today Chromium froze up three times so badly the whole system froze, resulting in a hard powerdown. So, noticing I still had the 3.0 iso on my Seagate, (and thinking I gave up too soon on it), I reinstalled it. Here is what I`ve learned about making 3.0 work. First, fresh install. Second, use sudo apt-get update, then sudo apt-get upgrade to get all the latest versions of apps. Then? LEAVE IT ALONE! Don`t do what I did the first time, don`t automatically fire up Ubuntu Tweak and start jacking around. Don`t install anything that isn`t already there. Believe me, having Skype and Picasa already installed is my personal slice of Heaven. This is a delicate OS, work with what it gives you and you`ll have no problems. That`s it! (If you absolutely have to have something, ask one of the brains here before trying it yourself). Simple, yes? If you want Linux Mint, then install it. This is ULTIMATE EDITION, the brainchild of Glenn Cady, aka TheeMahn. It is what it is, a gift to all of us from one man. Please honor him and use it as such. He`s a genius, and we are truly privileged to participate in this. Especially now, since his days as an OS developer are winding down.

Are you asking me to finish my Iterery ;)

I want to give you kudos a Ulitmate Player fan. I have a Ultimate Edition 2.6.6 only a myth as of current or local testing plan as of current. It blows my mind I am running will will be Ultimate Edition 3.3, it cost many electronics as I got mad and beat my keyboard close to death over a a enter key sticking. I will not go into specifics, locals know. I love local testers, they feel my pain.

Do not think for 1 second, I do not love our users. You are right in someways and I must say you broke it down well. I released 3.2 for one reason and only one reason to allow showcasing of technologies. I apologise by the same factor a following. We have users of years, I suppose I shold have educated what it was, Ultimate Edition 3.3 will also be no exception.

I want you to think about this:

I like Ultimate Edition 3.2, but is crap in any comparison to any Ultimate Edition 2.6 series & remains that way to this day. Ubuntu themselves extended support for Lucid (2.6) based distros for 1 year, hmm. Showcase was the general populus.
