I love this tip, have been using it for a while. Works slick as... ummmm... spit.

The only negative is that it doesn't cover anything you installed that isn't in your repositories.

Thats why you back up your source list and goto ect>apt And copy that backup to your storage , and in your new install, copy the backup to your new source list! :D

sudo cp /etc/apt/sources.list ~/sources.list.backup

Every time I add a new repository, or edit my sources.list in any fashion, I always back it up onto a USB hard drive that I use for all my "I-don't-wanna-lose-it" type files. Only takes losing all of your important... stuff 8 or 10 times before you learn just how important backing up is.

HELLO MUN!! :D
I have tried on several different installs to implement APTonCD but something just isn't happening, I get no response from the trigger! So yes APTonCD IS and (would) be A great way to backup and install your (our ) packages ,If it worked all the time, Or you can get it to work ! this "How to" is a 'surefire" way of making sure you have all your stuff! I am always open to anything that will help in backing up and supporting an existing install ! As I am sure we all are ! :D Any other" App's" that you (or any one) can come up with to help in this ,would be greatly appreciated, I am sure ! :D (looking forward to your O?S Gaga Linux !!!! release)<<<<<<<(BLATANT PROMO :D )

Ooops JOHNNYG boy you let the Cat out of the bag  A small correction of the distro name, it should be "Gaga Linix" Not "Linux" ;)
