OK boys and girls, I started this thread in the wrong category, Should have been in compiz-fusion-B.T.U, At the start, But I didn't think it was going to be a long drawn out affair , Any way I have gotten elements and 3D models working! (man your gonna luuuv 3d models!) and I will post the 3D models "How to" later today ! But for now , As I promised "cell" here is my Brand spank'n new "Elements" "How to" ! (god I love the smell of a good new how to ! ) Ahhhmmm,...... Shall we begin .!
--> How to install and operate "elements textures" in compiz <--
(Not the "elements plugin" itself)
[ 9.04 jaunty ubuntu ]
- #.1 Go here to download "elements", There are also backgrounds and some other things you can download to accompany the elements, Download the tarball, (yes there is an install script also, but I find this method to work with out flaw)and put the "images" folder in your home folder.
Start with these this is a full set! After you get up and running you may want to expand your collection with the other textures.

- #.2 Open ccsm to the elements plugin > click "new" > (when you click new a small window will open, at the top, There is a bar that says "autumn",we will start with that element) > element image > navigate to your home folder > elements, there are two "autumn" png"s, double click #1 to install, (the location of the element will show in the file box) you may adjust settings now or later.
(This is to the best of my knowledge)
- #.3 Element iter - Each different texture in elements, autumn, snow, fireflies, ect, has a different number, It is so you can have multiple textures for the same element. So all entries with Iter=1 would be the first element texture, and all entries with Iter=2 would be the second element texture, In other words, if you have 5 different snow's, under the snow bar your first snow flake texture would be 1 your second snow flake texture 2, and so on. The same for the other elements; Install the rest of the elements the same way, Making sure to change "elements" in "the top bar" when installing a different element, and setting the "iter" number to the next number when installing more than one element.
-#.4 Set key bindings - Toggle selected element - turns "elements" on or off
Click the long bar to open settings window, set the combination of keys that you want to use to start and stop "elements"(I set mine to cntl-super(or "windows key")-c , set next element and previous element (I set mine to cntl-a, and cntrl-b)
-#.5 Now you can set up elements individual settings, click on the installed element in the "elements window", click "edit" and make your adjustments.
You may have multiple instances of elements, snow, stars, leaves, at the same time !
- To start - (In my case) "cntrl-super-c" start autumn, "cntl-a" brings up next element, "cntl-super-c" to start next element and so on.
-To stop - (In my case) "cntrl-super-c" to stop the last element, "cntrl-b" previous element, "cntrl-super-c" stops that element and so on.
There are other types of pre-made elements or textures on the web, or if your good with the gimp Or other graphics program, you can make your own elements!, elements vary in size, But I find that about 100X100 works well!
If you download or make your own elements put them in your element images folder to keep them all together, You can place different types of element in sub-folders to stay organized.
You will have to experiment with iters and adjustments,to set them to your liking, as you can have any variety of elements running at the same time!
You may add these elements to the "Snow" plugin, But all the textures run at the same time, elements is just a more elaborate version of the "snow" plugin, So what the deuce(stewie) run'em both!
NOTE: This is an "in general" "how to" and is as accurate as my limited knowledge permits,(But a hell of alot better than anything else I have seen ), works flawlessly for me! I will post any new updates on this how to as they become available, or apparent to me.
Hope this "How to" is helpfull ! Enjoy ! Johnnyg.
