you have to make partition for Linux in the place that the FAT32,NTFS- have to be remove.
Linux can not install on fat32,ntfs.

Or even eaysier: run Partition Editor from live DVD before starting to install :)

amir, I must commend you for you work, top notch.. ;)
I would like to comment though, a lot of are users are beginners to Linux, even though they my have MS experience, it is new to them....
Ultimate Edition tries to eliminate the need to compile everything that most individuals would like to have as there system from the get go...
We do not in this world have all the same systems...so there is a lot of possibilities out there...I hope you catch my feelings, be careful..what may work and does fine on yours, may not on mine...that includes different programs & procedures also... ;)

Hello Admins and Mods.

first i will give you some from my reaume so just maybe you will understand
that you don't play with some kid hear.

1- i have made the pclinuxos Guide of system installation.
2- i have made the TinyMe Guide of system installation.
3- i have made the ald TinyMe wiki in Hebrew.
4- i have made on my site in israel more then 100 Guides of Linux Distro Guides
of How to install Linux software.
5- in 2004 i had site on israel that gut the first place in the israelis Contest.
on the site there were 10 madia players that stream to the world live video,
and had 5.000 users online day and night.
6- i was the one that give to the israelis cable the option to make the IPVPN tec,
by getting station from Europe to work with my VC and with my speed like the speed
in israel, when in Europe the speed was just half of israel speed network.
7- i have made one of the best WAREZ site that had the new crack software firs to the world.

Dear Admins and Mods,
as you can see you don't play will one more user or kid.
in Hbrew there is that thing that say about PEOPLE that look on half of the work:
"רק לחמור מראים חצי עבודה"
for that part you can use "ZIV" for translation.

so anyway if you want to get the system to work in my way(it work for 1500 in my old site-linux-israel.net).
just download the APTonCD and install all the packages(not the Hebrew support),
then you will have fully working system with out network need!

APTonCD for 1.9:

APTonCD for 2.0:

Click 9 more times to Download

sorry that i will not support that site anymore,
it looks like the is no room for me,so God Bless you ALL.
Amir.

This is an example of what a guide should more or less look like. It does not include 'I must do this or I must do that'. It does not include opinions(a few suggestions, that's all). It only includes the basics that a 5 year old can follow(over 1100 people have looked at this guide). It is by no means perfect but it gets people started on the right track. Guides or manuals must be written to cater to the lowest common denominator(a dummy if you please-although I hate the word). I was an office manager for close to twenty years and I trained thousands of people during that time. Some were quick studies and some were not. I also have spent the last two years repairing computers and they are all unique. One must never forget that!!! One of our admin staff was kind enough to go through the guide and borked his system. Everyone has different hardware, taste and needs.
With your experience with Linux I thought you would have realized this by now. Your guide will be looked at and considered, but as it is now it is not suitable because it is your personal opinion and not a guide at all. Simplify it to be easy to follow and only include the basics and it will be considered. If you want to do a follow up(a part 2 including more complexities), that will also need to be looked and tested for accuracy. This is my personal opinion(constructive criticism). Take it if you choose or not. I am not open to debate on this issue at this time.

Brother, I hope you are not too attached to Amarok, it is history in Jaunty (9.04 Ultimate Edition 2.2-X86), well minus Amarok 2 as a replacement, I like the old one much better:
amarok.png
Amarok 1 will be no-more...

The whole O/S as a whole, I find to be quite sluggish. No cpu usage, disk I/O etc, but when I click on something I have to wait.Let's see if I can muster something good to say about it... When I was installing it, it had 2 new options on the username page of the installer (aka ubiquity) an option as in intrepid has to auto login, and 2 new ones... Remember password and decrypt home folder on login. None of the options I selected. Some of the new visuals, just changing the background fades from current wallpaper to the new one you select (eyecandy should not really count) New fusion & I don't see a bit of change.

Ultimate Edition 2.1 is fully done except I can not get the theme to fully take, works perfectly after installed. I have been considering changing it cuz it is starting to piss me off, the theme is still selectable and works. USplash, GDM, Wallpaper are all good.

I am a Linux noob and am attempting to install Ultimate 2.1 alongside XP. I have a Windows partition (NTFS) prepared for the install, but it appears Linux will not install on a NTFS partition.

When I get to the "Prepare disk space" part of the install, I choose Manual so I can choose where I want to install Ubuntu. I choose my partition but receive an error message when I click Forward: "No root file system is defined. Please correct this from the partitioning menu."

I don't know what this means? How do I fix this?

Thanks in advance!
