The fastest way to speed up your web browsing is to use Opera 10.0 or Google Chrome. They are both lighting fast and much easier to use than IE or Firefox. Give them a try and you will see a big difference. They are not as full featured, but when it comes to speed and ease of use, there are no comparisons.

You miss the point guys! ;)

Most of us surf the web daily, and usualy, go to lots of sites regularly, if these page's that you visit regularly ARE CACHED on your system only the things that have been updated will be downloaded, the rest will be loaded from your LOCAL CACHE INSTANTANTANEOUSLY!

Give it a try :)

As usual, a good How-To Nick.

Another Firefox How-To that's buried way back, also deals with making Firefox faster.
The whole post can be found here

gdeyoung wrote:Every time I do a new Linux install my Firefox is so slow resolving DNS. The reason for this is that Firefox has IPv6 enabled by default. I disabled it and my Firefox browsing is 10x faster.

1. Type about:config in the address bar.
Tick the I promise I will be carefull box
2. Type IPv6 in the filter box.
3. Double click network.dns.disableIPv6 to set the value to true.

Works like a charm, I do this in the very first Firefox window of each new install.

2nd Box: XP (dusty)
3rd Box: Stable Media box Ultimate Edition 1.8 x64 with XBMC

Firefox and IceWeasel are practically the same, The Debian project wanted to release versions of firefox with some slight modifications and this wasn't approved, therefore they "rebranded" the product to a different name, formerly GNU IceCat.
Seamonkey is like having Firefox and Thunderbird on one program, but it's functionalities are very similar, not much of a difference in performance or features, type in google "seamonkey vs firefox" and you'll get to a list of differences. Anyway, they're all basically the same, all based on tme mozilla engine.
